Having the chance to photograph the incredibly delicious cakes by Walton Patisserie in Mere Green, near Sutton Coldfield, was just superb.
These marvellous creations are the ultimate sweet treat. Graham was able to take them away with an open brief on how they should best be portrayed. These are not just product pictures, and they are not catalogue record shots; these are photographs that tell a story – making the cakes look as good as they possibly can.
Using an unusual combination of lighting – both continuous and subtle electronic flash – along with a few beautiful, colourful backgrounds sourced specifically to bring out the best of each display, we ensured the results were stunning. Shadows and careful shading create more vibrant and captivating photographs.
White backgrounds are so yesterday! Embrace change, be bold, and get striking, unusual styles to create tones that evoke an emotional response.
Food photography can be complex and challenging, but given the freedom to be as bold as possible, the results are well worth the effort. I want to take photographs that I’m proud enough of to use on my own website; if they are that good, they are certainly going to be perfect for you.
