After almost 9 years of thinking about it – I have (at last) gone and ordered (taken delivery of) a Brand New LEICA Q3 43.
I’m a Nikon guy through and through – I’ve used these exclusively for many years. I went fully digital after appearing on Channel 5’s Gadget Show on Television, where they filmed me putting traditional cameras up against the new (at the time) Digital cameras. It was a revelation to see the amazing results while shooting TV presenters in Birmingham Bay Studios and on location the following week.
However – I’ve been looking at a couple of Leica products that have really come out on trumps, specification-wise.
Factors that influenced my decision to invest:
- Lens Quality
The lens is described as one of the best in the world. - Mirrorless
No mirrors – I didn’t understand mirrors back then, but I do now. This reduces both weight and size without any compromise of image quality. - Small, compact design combined with a Retro Look
Back to basics with dials that are clickable instead of endless menus of options to navigate through. - One lens, especially flexibility
This lens is attuned to a photographer’s needs. Want to zoom in? Move closer! Want a different frame? Use the alternative crop settings which can be adjusted through the eyepiece viewfinder or on the rear screen. - Portrait Mode
This is my main focus for work – taking portfolio and portrait shots that enchant and highlight the subject. - A robust, workmanlike build
Made to last, combining an industrial housing with a stunning Full Frame 60.3 megapixel sensor. With quick autofocus and a Macro Mode – that’s everything I need to carry. - That indefinable Bokeh effect
With razor sharpness and incredible depth of field, I find this irresistible when shooting at open aperture speeds. The results are simply outstanding.
This camera is also a talking point – so let’s talk about what it does for you or who you would recommend it to next!
