Food Photography is one of the most challenging disciplines that I tackle as it can encompass so many looks – a huge variety of styles and presentation.
I can shoot simple or complex – from a plain white background to a full on coordinated, styled and propped photoshoot.
If you’re looking for top end results, calling in an expert food stylist will prove invaluable (and they know all the tricks of the trade!). They are both creative and knowledgable about food presentation.
Alternatively if your budget won’t stretch that far – a good chef will often be enough to bring out a very presentable dish. I then work my lighting magic to highlight the food in a pleasing and tasteful manner.
They challenged the students of UCB to come up with ‘different, mouthwatering and imaginative’ menu items using the companies delicious range of products.
I set up a mobile studio so that a consistent look could be maintained across the various concoctions that were entered – to be judged on both presentation and taste.
Each dish was photographed using a Nikon D810 DSLR tethered to my Mac Book Pro. Various Elenchrom Pro Lighting was installed so that both the judges and students could appreciate the work that went into food presentation.
The overall winner was shot in a dramatic fashion for use in future marketing material.
