I don’t take photographs – I make them!

It’s not about taking a record; it’s about creating an image. Setting a mood, using creative lighting, edgy angles, interesting foregrounds or complementary backgrounds.

Everyone takes photographs of their grandkids, but not like this. A powerful portrait that is lit to emphasise the character he’s portraying. Hitman—from the 2007 film, Agent 47, or perhaps Diamond Hands from the Fortnite third-person shooter game. The eyes, the samurai sword, the shadows, the crisp tailored suit, and finally the killer look. All combine to raise the bar on this portrait star.

Looking good—storytelling PR portrait of a new apprentice at the car dealership group—Lookers—one of the Big 3 multi-vehicle brand sales groups. Two very different views of the same subject. One in situ, in context and getting hands-on. The other, an engaging camera-focused portrait on a plain background. Both taken at a large second-hand car sales and repair shop in Birmingham.

A very different composure and lighting set-up for this Asian fashion-related photograph. A studio shot taken in conjunction with a set of stellar images of various versatile styles of ladies’ wear.

BTS tethered—Corporate Headshot Portraits in Manchester. This regular client has had trouble in the past with photographers who don’t stick to the brief, don’t get people to engage with the camera, and don’t supply photographs both promptly and of the right size. Since engaging Graham to cover Birmingham, there have been no issues, and he has in fact led to him covering both Bristol and Manchester staff portraits.

Sad Butterflies—a moody portrait of the lead singer, with relevant props and very tightly focused lighting control. An edgy, arty, indie image that speaks volumes of the music, the artist, and the vibe of the article. It’s all about the look; I’m not recording what she looks like, I’m imbuing the rock chick with a gothic stance and attitude.

This engaging portrait is in a different style, a personable portrait for an online dating portfolio. An at-home comfortable venue and the use of daylight combine in a heartwarming, approachable image for an online presence. A selfie just won’t cut it—they are awkward and flat; you don’t engage with a phone, you get to know me, and talk through how you like to be seen. Smart casual is the order of the day.

Portraits are important—you are the face of your business.
